Parking
Downtown Parking
Parking is generally at a premium during the Hooch, but downtown Chattanooga is really easy to navigate. The regatta venue is at the north end of Chestnut Street or Broad Street in close proximity to the Tennessee Aquarium. Market, Broad and Chestnut Streets run parallel North/South, and there are numerous parking garages and surface lots along these streets and side streets.
Electric Shuttle
To avoid a long walk, a free electric shuttle runs continually along Broad and Market streets between Shuttle Park North (Broad x 3rd) near the venue, and Shuttle Park South at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo (Market x 14th St). Leave your car at your downtown hotel, or find your parking spot, and ride the shuttle to within a block of the venue. Check out the route and hours of operation here.
Handicapped Parking
The nearest handicapped parking is available for vehicles with properly displayed permit, placard, or tag in the River Pier Landing and Carta North Garages listed below.
North of the River
The Renaissance Park and the Coolidge Park parking lots are on the North side of the river just opposite the venue. Parking in these lots gives close access to the adjacent public parks, and will offer a good view of the river along the North shore, closest to the crews traveling upstream to the start line. It is an easy walk across the Market Street Bridge or the pedestrian-only Walnut Street Bridge to the venue, and you will have great views of the race course below either bridge. The Northshore neighborhood also has a variety of shopping and dining options.
On-Street Parking
Parking on the streets is probably a poor option as the time limits are generally 2 hours maximum and they fill quickly.
Cycling
Traveling downtown by bicycle is easy. The best bike corridors toward the venue are along Broad Street from MLK Blvd (9th Street) to Aquarium Way (2nd Street), and along a bike lane running most of Chestnut Street. An alternate route away from auto traffic is along the Tennessee Riverwalk which runs along the river from both sides of the venue, so park for free in any number of lots along the Riverwalk and ride to Ross landing. If riding from upstream/East of the venue, you will likely have several spots along the Riverwalk to view the rowing shells on the course. Riverwalk info here.
The Bicycle share program can also be a great option if you don’t have your own bike, but be aware that the docking stations at Ross Landing will be closed during the event, and other nearby docking may fill during peak hours. More info here.
